Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art is a visual arts center that serves the general public through ongoing exhibitions and educational programs for children and adults. The Center also features a graphic design studio, Aljira Design. It's located in the heart of Newark, just a few blocks south of the Newark Public Library. The museum's gallery space has featured exhibits covering such topics as hip-hop culture, African-American printmaking, and the urban landscape of New Jersey.
Open Wed. - Fri. noon - 6:00 p.m.; Sat. 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
General admission $5 suggested donation; Children 12 and under are free.
