Pedestrian killed in Newark

An unidentified adult male pedestrian was struck and killed in Newark today shortly before 8:30 p.m., Detective Todd McClendon wrote in an e-mail. The victim was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Broadway and Irving Street, and pronounced dead at the scene, according to McClendon, a police spokesman.
